About Me

My name is Olivia, and I am the owner and creator of Bloom & Bakery. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Growing up, I always had a love of baking, I was always making cakes for family member's birthdays.

In college, I majored in math education and received my degree from Auburn University. I taught for a year in Alabama, then my husband's job moved us to Denver, Colorado in March of 2017. At the time, I had a two week old baby and knew almost no one in the Denver area. I forged ahead and started teaching math in Denver Public Schools and later in Adams Co Schools.

In 2020 when the world shut down, my mom asked me to make "those viral sugar cookies" for a baby shower. After watching many videos, I made my attempt. I was really proud of the way these turned out. I enjoyed making them, and I looked for any opportunity to create decorated sugar cookies. I made them again for my daughter's third birthday in February and again in April for Easter. Although I was busy being a mom, working a full time job, buying a house, I still enjoyed and sought out any opportunity to bake.

In 2021, I started an Instagram account dedicated to my cookies. I sold my cookies for cheap to gain experience and take on new challenges. Over the next few years, I did a few cookie orders here and there. But again, I was now a mother of 2 and still teaching full time.

In 2026, I was experiencing extreme burnout in my job. Although I loved my job and I am passionate about math education, my job was no longer sustainable. I was ready to move on to a new adventure. I slowly planned and finally allowed myself to dream for the first time in a very long time. During this final year, a good friend of mine would regularly bring sourdough to our math meetings. I was intrigued to give sourdough a try, I had tried yeast bread many times, but I never found a recipe that stuck. As soon as I tried sourdough, I was instantly hooked. I was constantly baking and giving away loaves. I brought practice loaves to my classes during finals. It was a great time to experiment with my bread baking.

During this time of 2026,  developed a passion for supporting small, local businesses instead of massive corporations. I wanted to grow  and make as much as I could for myself instead of going to the store. Making bread was at the top of the list of things to start making over buying. I realized that the breads we buy in the store of full of unnecessary chemicals and ingredients to keep food from going bad. I started baking bread for my family. I enjoyed it so much, I was making more than my family and I could ever eat.

In the spring of 2026, Bloom & Bakery was created.  I attained the LLC, the business license, and everything else to legitimize my business. I am now a licensed cottage food bakery serving the Northglenn area.

Thank you so much for following along and supporting small!
